Hi,
My dad is trying to get a 745Li with Sports Package, Convenience Package, Parking Distance Control, and Active Cruise Control. We would like to have the Rear Seating Package...but it's not a must. We are gonna go down to the dealership on Saturday and see what they have in stock...before I do that I've got a few questions for experienced buyers. What sort of lease deal can one expect with an '04 745Li with the options stated above? (e.g. $4K down, 36 months/12K miles.) I noticed a Black 745Li with chrome wheels and it looked fantastic. Does the dealer chrome the wheels? If so, How much do they charge(usually)? Regarding the problems the 7 Series has had, do we have a chance of getting a better deal? Are the problems solved or do they need to be corrected? What are these problems?
I'm sorry for the bother, but our dealership(shelly BMW) is very bad when it comes to answering questions. My mom will probably be driving the 7 Series, and she isn't good when it comes to cars. So my dad and I want to make sure that the 7 Series handles well in snow(I guess asking BMW to make AWD is too much to ask), Doesn't stop all of a sudden or anything like that.
To be quite honest, I don't like the 745 that much, I would rather my mom get a bigger SUV or if she want's a Sedan than the M5 or E55. But I'm only 13, and I get no say in what's good.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

funny thing about bmw dealerships. they dont deal.
they dont lower prices or add options to grease you up. its been a common practice forever. the saying stands true, the cars sell themselves. you may be able to get floor mats but thats a stretch , you might think im joking but youll see when you go. if you do somehow get deals then congrats your one of the few.
the dealership doesnt chrome the wheels, it could have been a certified aftermarket company like a a/c shnitzer 745.

as far as problems the only one that i hear stands out it is the Idrive system. which ive heard they have improved.

Furious,
Thank you for your honesty. That really sucks cuz my dad wants a 745Li real bad! Why can't they discount? So basically, I will be waisting my time going to a BMW dealership and you recommend that I look for another vehicle like S500, A8, LS430? I only like 2 vehicles that are in the lux sedan $70K plus category the S500 and the 745Li. IMHO,the interior of the 7 series is UGLY! BMW should take a look at the S500's interior! The headrest's look so luxurious from a distance! The S500 Sport has great-looking wheel's. The S500 also has a PRESAFE sysem that predicts an accident and prepares the Driver for it. Thank you very much for swaying me to the S500. Now all I have to do is persuade my Dad!

well its a matter of preferance. IMO they are all awesome cars. but if i were to not get a bmw it be a merc. the a8 is a close third.

all in all i doubt youll get a good deal from any of those companies. when it comes to brand new luxury flagships , the deals are in short order.

the bottom line is id still choose a 7 series bimmer over the s500 and the a8 or the ls430 anyday.

Well, my mom really hasn't done anything special to deserve a BMW, Audi, Lexus, Mercedes, or even an Acura. I keep telling my dad that spending money on that Bitch is a waist! She's so damn stupid that she would take a Miata over an M3! WTF?!?!? Stupid Bitch... ghead
But I find it hard to believe that dealers won't discount a few thousand dollars off of a $80K vehicle! That surprises me a little. Also, the 745Li has had multiple problems! I love the S500 seats! What do you think of them?
Thanks!

wait a second is this your mom your talking about? geez man thats harsh, car addict or not most women arent to keen on what a car does or is. they only car about the whole A to B situation while looking good. (not all women, just in my experience it seems to be the norm)

now the 745 had 1st year problems , most new cars have bugs. but from what i heard the they have since worked them out. if you buying new than i think youll be just fine.. have you considered getting daddy to buy a 760?

the s500 has great seats, i love the styling of the mercs.

this is a step mom right ? if not . . . . ehh

i say if she doesnt give a shit ls, merc, and those are all a waste. buy a gs maybe, es, a6 acura RL, unless she wants a big car. then a8. ls and merc are too expensive. tell ur dad. 745 = 75k. a6 = 35k + 330 zhp (for u = 40k) = 75k

bmw sport seats are made by recaro. they are some of the most comfortable seats ever. u may not notice it in quick hops but u weill never have to jiggle your back or anythign to 'wake' it up as in other seats. RECARO IS AWESOME. havnt seen merc seats so im not really in any position to say.

1992 brilliant red 325i 5 speed.

No, she's my biological mom. Dude, a Miata over an M3! That's too weird! I don't see how one can think from going from a 2003 E320 to a Miata? That's just absurd!
Oh my god, whenever a Miata crosses us by she nags on my dad to get one for her! She says it looks sporty! I think it looks ugly and it's too small. How much trunk space can you get in that thing? She found one for $2500, with 154K miles...I said forget it.
My dad wants something that is over $70K and has a lot of luxury features. The GS, ES, and A6 aren't good enough. He plans on taking the E320 when we get the new car. Making 3 cars in total( we also have a Honda Van).
I think that a 745Li would be sufficient. The reason we don't want a 745i, is because of that extra L. I mean would it kill someone to discount a few thousand off a $80K car? Oh well, we are gonna go to the BMW dealership and see what we can do on a 745Li with the options we want.
Regarding my mother, who the hell drives a minivan at 90MPH? The car rattles at 65MPH.
thanx

miatas are awesome dude, you have no idea what power can be harnessed in those engines, they are light as hell , youd be quite surprised with the performance, let you biological mom choose the car she wants, for god sakes she is your mother.

I bought a new 2004 745i in early December and got a discount of about 8%. Another dealership would discount about 7%. I'm in South Florida
