This is the first message board posting of any kind that I have every made so please excuse any breaches of etiquette.

I have a 97 740IL with a powershade that just stopped working today. It make no noise or attempt to move. I have checked the fuse, but I don't know what to do next.

Suggestions?

Anyone know where I can purchase a replacement?

Your local dealer would definatley have the part. But since everybody thnks the dealerships are "stealerships" then somebody else would have a better understanding of where to find what you're looking for.
Possibly Bavarian Auto?

Sorry, I have only driven a 745Li..with a rear-window powershade.

it is possible the motor that drives the rear power shade has just given up after all it is quite old...I'd say take it to your local BMW Center.

check out www.e38.org......good write up, something about a section of the worm gear that wears out; you need to re-adjust the worm gear to an area that is not striped to get your shade to work again.
