| 2004 645Ci Computer Problems
Hello,
We have a 2004 645Ci with roughly 35K miles and drive this car as more of a pleasure vehicle than everyday use. When we take it on the highway the center console says active steering malfunction, then warning roll stabilization deactivated, tire pressure monitor deactivated, and my favorite is the engine overheating where the temp guage jumps from normal to top end and then back down again in 5 seconds. We have also recently found that the speedometer guage goes from 65 to 0 and then back up again occasionally. Clearly this relates to some computer malfunction to have all of this happen simultaniously.
My BMW dealer have replaced the battery three months ago ($400) and the voltage reads 11.5v so we have voltage. The dealer is telling us to put it on a trickle charger when not in use, but that seems a bit extreme considering that we do drive it short distances at least 3 times a week. Any advice from other owers / enthusiasts that have had the same type of experiences?
