2001 BMW 740iL Sunroof Motor/Switch??? Stuck

i replaced the sun roof motor and now the roof will only go up and down and not slide out. i tried the switch button reset procedure by holding the button for a few seconds and that did not work. i think maybe the sunroof might be out of track?

would it be a bad motor? i got this used at a junk yard.

other ideas?

When I bought the car I knew the sunroof motor was missing.


Also the sunroof will not close at all now. It will open up for 2 seconds then try to close then stay up.

Ok. I bought this car knowing the sunroof motor was missing. I bought one and installed it. Now the sunroof won't close all the way. I tried the reset procedure and tried to unplug the battery for five minutes. The battery is brand new.


It seems like one side operates faster than the other side. I have attached some pictures.

Do you think you guys can help with giving me some pointers?

the sunroof motor contains 2 hall effect sensors on 740iL that control opening and closing... are you sure the motor you have is a compatible one for your car? ...or perhaps you did not align properly?
