I have a 1997 740i E38. The BMW manual says not to tint the windows. I called a few places and they told me it cant be done. Is this true? Does anyone know how to do this.
One of the places I called reffered to the windows as bullet proof glass. I'm sure this was a refference to it's design and resistance to breakage. He claimed that there is a special film on the inside and the tint will not stick to it. I would appreciate any help.
You didnt mention what year and model BMW that you own however most if not all BMW's can be tinted however on the later models the radio antenna is built into the rear windshield and so the Tint can affect reception.

I have recently tinted my 97 540i and have had problems regarding my AM reception. BMW's official TSB claims that it is due to a small amount of ceramic material in the tint film. My AM reception sometimes works perfectly but seems to be much more sensitive in areas where there is some normal interference (powerlines etc.).
