1995 740i running rough

hey guys,i been having problems while driving my 740i,it drives good and all of a sudden it just starts to idle rough and i lose power,i step on the gas and at certain spots it just takes off fine and then again the same thing,toay it did it again and lost all power and i got a strong gas odor coming from the engine.....does this have to do anything with the throttle position switch or is it my camshaft speed sensor....i would greatly appreciate any info on this matter........thanks

One thing to look for is cracks in the intake. This can throw the engine computer off.

camshaft sensor or o2 sensor, o2 failure would give the fuel smell as its not vapourised. easiest way to find out is have a diagnostics done.
