the remote unlock the door, but the door can't be opened. is there any electrical part of the door not working? need help...thank you.

One possibility is that the door lock solenoid support bracket is broken (happened on my 1988 750) or that the solenoid is out of alignment (the solenoid is held by two screws that go through slotted holes and the solenoid can be moved fore or aft to allow the proper door unlocking ).

Second possibility is that the Bowden (braided steel) cable that allows the door handle to activate the lock is broken (happened to my car and it was a interior handle cable, yes there are two cables, one for inside handle and one for outside) Once the door is unlocked can you open the door from the inside? If yes then I would suspect the bowden cable is kaput.

I checked with the service foreman at JMK BMW in Springfield. (a great dealership in my experience so far) and he was honest enough to tell me that they usually get someone to pull and hold the handle to open the door while someone inside kicks the door in order to force it open. This made sense since aside from maybe the strike plate, ideally all that should be damaged is the part that your going to replace anyway.

Stomp as close as possible to the inside trailing edge of the door near the latch.

On this vehicle, you may want to d-conn the battery to prevent the very remote possibility of airbag going off.

The trim panels aren't as fragile as the look and yes you might destroy one in the process.
