I am thinking of purchasing a beautiful 1993 740i with 97K, this baby is sweet, but there is a Lifter Tick when the car is idleing after I drive it.
Is this a big problem?
What else should I look for?
Thanks

Go to Auto Parts Store and purchase a can of SEA FOAM and add it to the oil. This product can be used as a fuel injection cleaner when dumped in the gas tank or as a upper lube when added to the oil. I had a ticking at startup with my 1988 750 and after adding SEA FOAM the tick is gone.
You may have an exhaust manifold leak. Use a mechanics stethascope or equivalent, to see if the noise is coming from the valves or not. If it isn't listen carefully to the sound to see if it isn't a quick "psst" sound.
