1992 735il Opportunity

Be gentle ; very new to the German (Bavarian) car scene. Chevy is probably a dirty word around here.

I have an opportunity to aquire a '92 735iL (memory may have failed me here with the sub-model code, I am a BMW novice ).

Very attractive car. Though only a six, I am very impressed with the over-all attention the creators gave to this car.

Body is fine, mileage just South of 100K. My next step is to put down some earnest money and get it to a mechanic for a work out.

I would like some general forum knowledge regarding gotcha's, ut-oh's, and do-overs when purchasing a 10+ year old higher end BMW.

Any and all opinions are welcomed .

Good luck on the car purchase. My best advise I can give you is what you mentioned you were already doing.. take the car to a professional BMW mechanic BEFORE buying it and have it looked over. These cars are not cheap to have repaired and so any info about problems going into the purchase will help you considerably so that at least you know what youre getting in to and you can pay a fair price for what condition the car is in. This is money well spent. Also check out these sites for tips and repair info on e32's. They too can save you lots of $$$ if youre willing to jump in and do some DIY repairs on the car.
