1990 730 A/C problem

I guess I should say hello 1st since this is my 1st post, so

I purchased a 1990 730 (euro spec if it matters) to use as my daily driver. Overall, it's been a good car especially when you consider its age and that I only paid 4K for it, but I have had some minor problems with it, the latest of which is the AC, which just blows hot air.

Any ideas on what would cause that and how to fix it? I would prefer to do the work myself, but I’m more familiar with the insides of my Corvette and a bit lost in the BMW.

Also, The Tape deck stopped working a while back and I’m thinking about replacing the head unit with a CD player. I don't really care about getting great sound since I only use it to drive to work and on rainy days, just being able to play CDs, does BMW make a CD player that will fit or would I be better off looking for an aftermarket unit?

Let's start with the pressure, on a 80 degree "F" day you should see about 35 psi on the low side (the fatter of the two steel lines with screw on caps,located between the washer reservoir and valve covers) Since i am assuming R12 refrigerant the best bet is to try and find a indedpendent shop that will pressure check and dye check the system 9llok for addvertised specials). a recharge may be all you need, but because it is R12 it may be costly.

I have a Alpine single CD head in my 1988 750 and it works fine using all factory speakers. I bypassed the factory amplifier and use the iternal amp in the head.
